Accreditation 2022

Accreditation 2022

UZH was awarded institutional accreditation without restrictions by the Swiss Accreditation Council in December 2021.

In the accreditation decision, the university’s quality assurance system was described as overall very well thought-out, coherently structured and implemented. Accreditation is valid until 2028.

Within the «Accreditation 2022» project, UZH is preparing for its institutional accreditation by the Swiss Accreditation Council in 2021/22. The project offers UZH the opportunity to further expand and optimize its quality development and to benefit from the opinion of external experts.

On 17 March 2023, the Swiss Federal Council confirmed UZH’s right to receive federal funding in accordance with the Higher Education Act (HEdA), for which accreditation was a requirement.Federal Council’s media release – in German (PDF, 122 KB)

«Institutional accreditation presents both a challenge and an opportunity for UZH: Although the process will be demanding for the university as a whole, it also provides us with the opportunity to improve and develop as an organization.»
